UK Criminal Records

UK Criminal Record disclosures provided by the Criminal Records Bureau and Disclosure Scotland allow Control Risks Screening's clients to make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain types of work.
There are three levels of disclosure which are available. Basic disclosure is provided by Disclosure Scotland and only includes unspent convictions. Standard and Enhanced disclosures are provided by the CRB (subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act) and include both spent and unspent convictions. A Standard disclosure is required for positions of trust such as approved persons.
If you are considering using either standard or enhanced disclosures as part of your pre-employment screening process there are a number of requirements which you must comply with. These include:
* Compliance with the Criminal Records Bureau and Disclosure Scotland's code of conduct
* A policy for the secure storage, handling, use and retention of disclosure information and
* A policy for the rehabilitation of ex-offenders
In addition, all application forms, job advertisements and recruitment briefs must contain a statement that a Disclosure will be requested in the event of the individual being offered the position.
